Bridges Mentorship

Bridges pairs children and teens with consistent, caring adult mentors for one-on-one time at the Ranch focused on relationships, growth and faith.
Participants typically meet with the same mentor two to four times each month for 90-minute sessions. Time together may include riding, caring for horses, ranch chores, gardening, games, crafts and other activities based on each participant’s interests and goals.
While horses are an important part of the experience, the heart of Bridges is relationship. Mentors walk alongside participants as they build social and emotional skills, develop trust and confidence, and grow in healthy relationships with others and with God.
Every participant is different. Mentors work with parents and caregivers to understand individual needs and set appropriate goals for each child. Bridges is offered completely free of charge to participating families.

Who Can Participate?
Bridges primarily serves children ages 5 to 18 who are at risk for or currently experiencing trauma, crisis or other significant life challenges. Refuge Ranch has also served adult women through partnerships with local shelters and community organizations.
Participants must want to take part in the program and be willing to engage in the experience. Children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, and all participants must complete orientation and required Ranch paperwork before beginning.

Corral Groups
Throughout the year, Refuge offers group programing to engage children on the waiting list with the animals and faith community.
