Interns serve alongside Ranch staff and volunteers while gaining practical experience in the day-to-day work that supports children, families, animals and programs.

 

The primary goal of the internship is spiritual growth. Interns are encouraged to deepen their relationship with God, grow as leaders and learn how to disciple and serve others. The experience is designed to stretch interns beyond their comfort zones through meaningful work, responsibility and relationships.

 

Internships are unpaid. Refuge Ranch may be able to offer guidance or resources related to housing when needed.

Time Commitment

Interns are expected to serve a minimum of 20 hours per week on site during Ranch open hours. Schedules may be adjusted around school or other commitments when possible.

What Interns Do

Responsibilities vary based on the season, Ranch needs and the intern’s experience, but may include:

• Caring for and feeding horses and other animals

• Cleaning paddocks and maintaining water troughs

• Groundskeeping, gardening and fence maintenance

• Participating in staff horsemanship and developing riding and groundwork skills

• Assisting with or leading mentoring sessions

• Helping with volunteer work groups

• Participating in and leading devotional times

• Supporting office and administrative needs

• Prayer and spiritual development

• Helping with other day-to-day Ranch projects
