Mission

Refuge Ranch supports under-served, at-risk, and special needs families who have faced extensive trauma and painful life circumstances with services that leave a lasting impact.

Refuge Ranch serves children and families who have experienced trauma, loss, instability, mental health challenges and disabilities.

Through Christ-centered mentoring, horsemanship and adaptive riding, children spend time with caring adults and horses in a safe environment where they can build trust, gain confidence and learn new skills. A session might include grooming a horse, completing ranch chores, working toward a riding goal or simply spending time with a mentor who consistently shows up.

These relationships create opportunities for children to experience belonging, responsibility and the love of Jesus in meaningful ways. Every program at Refuge Ranch is offered free of charge to families, made possible by generous donors, volunteers and community partners.

The Ranch also partners with local organizations, including the YMCA, The Outlet, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Illinois, Compass for Kids and local schools and foster care agencies. The ranch has also partnered with area businesses who serve as sponsors and a community of generous donors who share a passion for a Christ-centered community that brings healing.
